Barrington 220 school officials just announced their decision to cancel school again tomorrow, extending winter break for students a second day.  In a email sent to district families this afternoon, Barrington 220 schools Superintendent Dr. Tom Leonard writes, “Unfortunately, it seems like this extreme weather – and the winter vacation – will never end. All Barrington 220 schools and offices will again be closed Tuesday, Jan. 7 for students and staff.”

In his message, Dr. Leonard writes, “The sub-zero temperatures and wind chill may ease slightly but the elements will remain dangerously low by early morning, making it too risky for everyone to get to school. With a little luck and warmer wind, hopefully we are all back in class on Wednesday. We will send more communications regarding that tomorrow.”

Dr. Leonard also says he doesn’t take lightly the decision to close schools, “…particularly since we are barely into the winter season already having used two of our five allotted emergency closing days.”

But I can almost hear students cheering to the news this afternoon that they have one more day of winter break!
