The Barrington Junior Women’s Club will be getting a groove-on this Saturday night during their annual spring social event and fundraiser.  Tickets are still available for Get Grooving’ Get Giving, which is being described as “a 70’s blast from the past dance party” at Biltmore Country Cub and we’re all invited.

Bring your Boogie Fever for a dynamite evening of auction, raffles, dining and dancing. Get decked out in your best disco attire, slide on the platform shoes, slip into psychedelic polyester and funky bell bottoms and join the scene at the BJWC Spring Fundraiser.

Proceeds from the event will go towards various local charities that the BJWC supports.  In 2013, for example, grants were given to 19 different organizations, including Barrington Youth & Family Services, GiGi’s Playhouse, Wellness Place, WINGS, Barrington Giving Day, the BJWC Relay for Life team and educational scholarships for BHS students, just to name a few.

The Barrington Junior Women’s Club is a longstanding Barrington organization made up of ladies who love to have fun while helping others in our community.  But don’t take my word for it.  Just ask Get Groovin’ Get Givin’ co-chairs, Agnes Tomasian, Christy Origer and Kathleen McLaughlin.

Here are their top five reasons you should attend the Get Groovin’ Get Givin’ this Saturday night.

1. Great way to give back to the Barrington community

Proceeds generated from the Spring and other BJWC fundraisers throughout the year go towards various local charities that Club supports. In 2013, for example, grants of $40,000 were given to 19 different organizations, including Barrington Youth & Family Services, GiGi’s Playhouse, Wellness Place, WINGS, Barrington Giving Day and Relay for Life, just to name a few.

2. It’s a fun night out!

The 70’s “Get Groovin’ Get Givin’” theme is bound to be great time for BJWC members, friends and spouses as attendees come dressed in their best disco attire. There will be a Chicago-based DJ to help us boogie all night long, and guests will enjoy cocktails, creative food selections and other surprises prepared by the talented Biltmore chefs!

3. Support the BJWC’s educational scholarship program

In addition to the various community organizations BJWC supports, funds from the Club Fundraisers also go towards educational scholarships for Barrington High School students. In 2013, BJWC awarded $15,000 to BHS seniors.

4. Great way to meet new people and mingle with club members

Our fundraisers are always great parties for a great cause, and an opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and “hang” with current friends.

5. Shop for great experience packages in the silent auction.

We are very thankful for our raffle sponsors, Long & Co. Jewelers and York Furrier, and numerous business and individuals who have donated high quality, must-have items for the silent auction. Come ready to place your best bid!
