A gorgeous fall day and a terrific turnout made this year’s second annual Feets of Strength 5K Run/1 Mile Walk a great success. Runners gathered at Citizens Park on Sunday to hit the course together while supporting Barrington LEADS, an organization focused on encouraging teens to live drug and alcohol free lives.
Two BHS students, Sigrid Neptun & Lauren Conroy, created the Feets of Strength race, which has become a major fundraiser for Barrington LEADS. Here are some of the race-day photos, courtesy of Barrington photographer, Bob Lee.
The mission of Barrington LEADS is to reduce the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by youth in our community through education, prevention, healthy alternatives. Barrington LEADS represents a community effort based on the premise that local people are in the best position to solve specific local problems. The group believes that people are more likely to support what they help create, and change is most likely to occur when the process engages many facets of a community in a collaborative approach. Barrington LEADS’ membership has grown to more than 400 members, mostly parents who want to become knowledgeable about teen drugs and alcohol usage and to learn ways to help promote healthy teen choices.
