The Village of Barrington is celebrating the 150th year of its official incorporation TODAY, February 16th, 2015! The Illinois legislature granted Barrington’s charter on this date in 1865 and the Village’s Sesquicentennial Committee has planned celebrations to mark this special milestone throughout the year, starting with a birthday party at Village Hall tonight at 8 p.m. Don’t forget to tune-in to Channel 4 on your TVs to watch tonight’s festivities from home.

For tonight’s official kickoff to Barrington’s year-long Sesquicentennial Celebration, there will be special speakers including Village President Karen Darch and local historian, Barbara Benson. Sesquicentennial Committee co-chair, Tim Dunn, will be presenting the keynote address called “Reflections on Barrington”. The Barrington Children’s Choir, the Reverend Dr. Zina Jacque from Community Church of Barrington, and Veterans from VFW Post 7706 will also participate in the program.

Last, but not least, a Happy Birthday Barrington 150th Birthday cake was graciously donated by Ambrosia Euro American Patisserie of Barrington. The public is invited to view the kickoff on TV. You’ll find it all on Channel 4.
