Barrington High School is celebrating Abby Hasanov this week to honor the BHS junior who placed first in the IHSA Girls’ Gymnastics State Championship for her floor routine this past weekend as Barrington High School’s team took 4th place overall. We’re putting the focus on Abby Hasanov today with the first in a new video series called Student Spotlight here at 365Barrington.com.
Abby started learning gymnastics at age three and she’s been competing since she was six-years-old. Today, Abby practices a total of 18 hours a week while keeping up with her academic demands during gymnastics season at BHS.
365Barrington TV reporter Tommy Derken caught up with Abby for an on-camera interview to learn more about Abby’s first-in-state win and her secret to staying determined, focused and calm when she’s competing.
Stay tuned! As Abby wraps up her junior year, she says she’ll be training hard to achieve more successes on the state level before she graduates from Barrington High School in 2016.
