Keep in mind that 75 sailors from the Great Lakes Naval Academy will be returning to take part in the Brat Tent festivities on July 3rd.  The “Tribute Tent – Honoring Those In Uniform” will host many new organizations desiring to share history, community outreach, and activities honoring those who serve our country.  The Tribute Tent will also include displays from WWI, WWII, Korean War & Vietnam courtesy of the Veterans of Lake Barrington Shores , the 509th Parachute Infantry, Vietnam Special Force 5th Group and the Great Lakes Naval Museum.

Another highlight from this year’s Tribute Tent will be Toys for Tots’ Christmas in July campaign!  From 12 to 5 p.m. on July 3rd, they will be collecting new, unwrapped toys to distribute to children in our area who might not otherwise receive gifts this Christmas.  Barn Nursery & Landscape Company has provided the Barrington Lions Club with a 5′ pine tree that will be delivered and planted anywhere within zip code 60010. This tree will be raffled off to anyone who drops off a gift throughout the afternoon at the “Toys For Tots” booth (located inside the Brat Tent area). This tree will become a symbol how ONE TOY can change a child’s life.  Learning Express has also provided an assortment of toys that can be purchased and donated on-site for those not having the ability to stop by a store prior to attending the Brat Tent.
