At long last, Shakou Sushi in the heart of downtown Barrington just announced they’ll be welcoming first diners and opening for business on Monday, October 5th! Shakou, which means “social life” in Japanese, is bringing modern Asian cuisine and a sophisticated urban vibe to their third location at 121 W. Main Street in the brand new Barrington Village Center.

Shakou’s menu specialties include Signature Maki such as Black Widow, with black rice, lightly battered fresh water eel, avocado topped with tempura crunch, sautéed scallops, tobiko and unagi sauce and Golden Lobster, featuring lobster tempura, avocado and masago, wrapped in soy paper topped with seared garlic egg yolk sauce, unagi sauce and wasabi mayo. And that’s just a taste!

Shakou’s cooked entrees include Chilean Sea Bass, prepared with garlic soy sauce with sautéed vegetables topped with baby arugula and yuzu wasabi and Braised Short Ribs, with sweet ginger soy sauce accompanied by sautéed vegetables and rice. But I also see Shakou’s Firecracker Shrimp in my future. Battered fried Jumbo shrimp lightly tossed in fire sauce (garlic, sambal and soy) and served with seasoned rice? Yes, please!

Shakou’s menu also features a delicious selection of soups, salads, appetizers and sides. Click here to view the many options you’ll have to choose from.
