We’re in a bit of a spring cold snap, but things are really heating up over at Barrington’s Ace Hardware store where their biggest grill sale of the year opens Friday! On April 29, 30 and May 1 – today, Saturday and Sunday only – Ace Hardware will pay your sales tax on any Weber purchase. You won’t find better prices on Weber products anywhere else. Add free assembly and local delivery to that savings and you have a super hot deal!
Barrington Ace owner John Brown says that this weekend’s deal also includes all Weber accessories, and there are no limits or exclusions. “We keep our grills at the lowest advertised price all year long, so this is the best promotion you’ll find.”
And this Saturday only, from 10-2, a Weber demonstrator will be on the patio at Ace grilling up some of the season’s best recipes and answering any questions you might have about Weber products. Follow your nose on over and discover some great new grilling tricks!
We stopped by Ace to chat with Weber manufacturer’s rep, Ryne Krug, who was in store assembling grills and making sure they are ready for their new homes. We grilled (sorry, had to do it) Ryne about all the latest Weber grills and must-have accessories. This grill guru has great tips to share about all the ways to make your Weber work for you all year long.
Need a New Grill?
Does your grill need to be retired? Or are you ready to upgrade your grilling experience? If so, there’s something for everyone in Weber’s wide range of grills. From tabletop charcoal kettles to top-of-the-line gas grills, Barrington’s Ace Hardware store has everything you need to be barbecue-ready.
There are still some die-hard charcoal grill fans out there, and Weber’s kettle is still the gold-standard classic in this category. From the tailgate-ready tabletops like Weber Smokey Joe Gold Tuck-N-Carry Charcoal Grill to the Weber Performer Deluxe Charcoal Grill, these kettles do the job dependably every time – and and can last for decades.
If gas grills are more your style, the Weber Spirit SP-330 Gas Grill might be just the one for you. With three stainless steel burners, 32,000 BTU-per-hour-input from the main burners, 529 square inches of cooking area and stainless steel cooking grates (which are easier to clean and tend to age better than cast iron), this grill is ready to cook for a crowd. And just to make this grill extra special, Weber has added a super-hot sear station and a side burner for sauces or veggies. At a price point of $649, you can’t beat these features!
Ace owner John Brown says that the Weber Genesis Gas Grills are perennial best sellers for their performance and durability. “The Genesis models all come with three burners, and some have side burners as well. They come in a lot of great colors – stainless, smoke gray, crimson and more – and range in price from $399 to over $1500.”
John has a Genesis at home, and cooks on it all year ’round: “Just last weekend I cooked a turkey breast on the grill, and it was so moist and delicious. It takes about two hours but is more than worth the wait.” The center-mounted thermometer lets you keep tabs on temperature without opening the cover, ensuring a perfect result every time.
When you purchase your new grill, don’t forget the basic grill accessories: a good set of grill tools, drip pans, a brush and a grill cover to protect your new investment!

Brushing up with Accessories
To keep your grill in good working order, you’ll need to give it a good spring cleaning. Ryne Krug recommends that every grill owner purchase Weber’s Exterior Grill Cleaner, Stainless Steel Polish, and Grate Grill Cleaner to keep their grill in top form. “You need to clean your grill regularly to get good results. And a good brush is an absolute necessity – replace yours when the bristles begin to crush.” This is a great time to buy these necessities free of sales tax!
Tools & Tricks for the Grill Gourmand
If you’re the type who grills just about everything, Weber has the perfect system for expanding your repertoire: the Gourmet BBQ System lets you convert any Weber grill into a gourmet griller’s paradise. A cooking grate customized for either your charcoal or gas grill has an interchangeable center section, which can be replaced with accessories ranging from a pizza stone to a wok. It offers so many options, you may never have to come inside!
Spice it Up
Barrington’s Ace Hardware is a great source for grills and accessories, but they also carry a full line of Weber Wood Chips – from Pecan to Apple to Mesquite and more – to flavor your meats and vegetables with rich, smoky goodness. Soak the wood chips in water or beer for 30 minutes to 2 hours before grilling, then drop some damp wood chips in Weber’s Universal Smoker Box. Grill as usual, and enjoy the slow-smoked flavor.
Ryne Krug loves to make ribs on his Weber, and he was willing to share his favorite rub recipe with 365Barrington.com readers. He says rubbing some Memphis Dust on his ribs does the trick every time – that and cooking them low and slow. Here’s the recipe:
Memphis Dust Rub
- 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup paprika
- 1/4 cup kosher salt
- 1/4 cup garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons ground ginger powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons rosemary powder
Mix all ingredients together, and rub approximately one tablespoon on each side of St. Louis cut ribs. Grill low and slow, then enjoy!
John Brown and the Barrington Ace team look forward to sharing all of their grilling know-how with you this weekend and anytime you’re in the neighborhood. Happy grilling!
