It’s a great weekend to bring the whole family to Heinen’s Grocery as they celebrate Hatch Chiles from New Mexico! All are welcome to Heinen’s annual Hatch Chile Roast from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, August 27th and 28th. New this year, they’ll be adding a pig roast from 3 to 8 p.m on Saturday. In addition to live music, games and activities for kids, they’ll be serving pulled pork sandwiches, grilled Portobello Mushroom burgers, hotdogs and beer along with favorites like Hatch Chile Paella and Hatch Chile Margaritas! You can also bring home freshly roasted Hatch Chiles for your own favorite recipes.

Hatch Chiles are green peppers grown exclusively in Hatch, New Mexico. They’re prized for their exceptional spicy flavor and versatility. Hatch Chiles are an essential ingredient in any authentic Southwestern recipe calling for green chilies.

Hatch Chile on GrillSimilar chilies, like the Anaheim Pepper, can be found nearly year round, but there is only one real authentic Hatch Chile. The soil and climate in Hatch, New Mexico make for a totally unique flavor and heat profile.

Hatch Chiles have a very short season starting at the beginning of August and running through the beginning of September.

True Hatch fanatics have been known to take them home by the case load and freeze them to use throughout the year. You might want to make room in your freezer… you’ll need it once you get your first taste of Hatch!

Heading to Heinen’s Hatch Roast? Be sure to reserve your Hatch Haul early by dropping by or calling the customer service booth and pre-ordering your case or two of chiles before the roast.
