NoonDaily | “Flying the W Flag Up to Heaven”

3 mins read

What a HUGE sigh of relief after the Cubs pulled off a win at Wrigley Sunday night, keeping our World Series dreams alive for at least one more game. Watching this series with such high hopes can make for quite a stressful experience! A friend of mine who’s an Indians fan says they’re feeling the same thing in Cleveland. Thankfully the Cubs are headed back there for Game 6 on Tuesday night.

Because hordes of trick-or-treaters are headed to our home for Halloween and these Cubs games are keeping me up WAY TOO LATE, today’s NoonDaily Update is short and sweet featuring just one simple photo.

When I woke up and checked my emails first thing this morning – before the chaos of kids’ Halloween costumes took over our family room – I discovered a lovely message from a 365Barrington reader named Margaret Lynn. The email title reads, “Flying the W up to heaven on my mom’s 95th birthday.” In the body of the message, here’s what Margaret shared…

“Like many Chicagoans who have passed away, my mom was a lifelong Cubs fan (Marylou Verkoulen 10/30/21 to 7/21/16). So last night after the big win, my kids decided to float this balloon up to her in heaven on the day of the big win!! 10/30/16: would have been her 95th birthday. Go Cubs!”

Thank you for your beautiful reminder, Margaret, that the simple possibility of a Cubs’ World Series win is reason to celebrate the experiences that bring us together. What a beautiful way to remember our loved ones who so loved the Chicago Cubs. Here’s the photo Margaret shared with her message.

We’d love to see how you’re sharing your Cubs pride as we head into the World Series home stretch. We’re creating a community album and would love to include YOUR photos! Tag 365 Barrington / #365Barrington on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter OR send to Liz@365Barrington.com with approximate photo location + caption and GO CUBBIES! We believe you can win it all in Cleveland this week!!!
