Heinen’s Grocery is throwing their annual “Catch the Hatch” party to celebrate Hatch Chiles from 11 a.m .to 5 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday, August 19th & 20th in Barrington! Grown only in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico, Hatch Chiles are only available during a six week period from August through September and you can get them while they’re HOT at – you guessed it – Heinen’s!
Named for the famous valley in New Mexico where they are grown, Hatch Chile Peppers are coveted by chefs and foodies for their amazing flavor and multiple applications in Southwestern cuisine. The Hatch Chile Pepper is a distant parent of the more common Anaheim pepper with similar sizing and texture, but a markedly different taste.
To celebrate Hatch season, Heinen’s is hosting their annual Chile Roasts, featuring spicy recipes and special Hatch products throughout the store. Heinen’s will roast chiles for you to take home and try new recipes. You can even stock up and take home a box to freeze for up to 24 moths. If you can’t “Catch the Hatch” at Heinen’s Barrington this year, they are also hosting 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hatch Chile celebrations at their Lake Bluff store (201 Waukegan Road) on Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th and at their Glenview store (1020 Waukegan Road) on Saturday, September 9th and Sunday, September 10th.
