The eighth annual Deer Park Jazz and Wine Festival will be held August 3rd at Deer Park Town Center featuring a mixture of straight ahead jazz, R&B Jazz and one of the most sought after Latin Jazz groups in the Midwest. Admission is free and, in addition to the live performers, there will be food, drink and fun for the whole family.

The music kicks off at 1pm with vocalist Dan Ferris and his trio followed by local up-and-coming jazz guitarist and vocalist Francesca Castro and her quartet from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Next up at 4:30 is a band lead by drummer George Fludas called “Pocket Change”. Fludas, who has toured with such notables as Ray Brown, Joey DeFrancesco, Diana Krall and many others, brings his group “Pocket Change” for the first time to the Deer Park Jazz & Wine Festival to perform their blend of jazz, R&B, Funk and contemporary styles.

The second to last slot starting at 6:15 showcases the unique, hard grooving, intense sounds of the Frank Russell Band. Lead by bassist Frank Russell, the group is made of some of top players on the scene in Chicago today performing R&B, Jazz and Funk with improvisational elements and intensity that will keep the audience grooving for the entire set.

After an overwhelming response last year they decided to bring back James Sanders and Conjunto at 8 p.m. to close out the festival again this year.

This high powered group incorporates Afro-Caribbean rhythms: rumba, son, danzón and other styles into their music which is why they have been featured at major Chicago music festivals for many years.

The Deer Park Jazz and Wine Festival is produced and programmed by Triple Crown Entertainment Group and Chicago Jazz Magazine and presented by the Village of Deer Park, College of Lake County and The Reserve at Deer Park. Event sponsors include Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, Bright Horizons Deer Park, Equilibrium Personal Training Studio, Deer Park Crossing, Daily Herald Media Group, and WDCB News.
