As the rapidly evolving news of the COVID-19 outbreak continues, Arboretum of South Barrington management says the health and well-being of their customers, tenants, employees, and communities remain their top priority. At The Arboretum of South Barrington, they are continuing to make informed decisions based on state and national guidelines as well as advice from local health authorities.

While mass gatherings have been canceled, spaces, where people are constantly moving such as airports, shopping malls and centers, grocery stores or similar spaces, remain open per public guidelines. However, with the support of our local health department, The Arboretum of South Barrington will reduce its hours beginning today, Tuesday, March 17, until further notice.

The temporary hours are:

  • Monday – Saturday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Please check with individual stores and restaurants at the center as they may have varying hours so they can continue to provide support and services to our communities. Additionally, all center events have been canceled through Tuesday, March 31.

The Arb Team will continue to work together as they monitor this situation, follow national guidelines and continue discussions with local health officials. Updates can be found on their website and social channels. For current health updates, state guidelines can be found at dph.illinois.gov and information from the CDC at www.cdc.gov.

Thank you for your support and understanding as we move through these unprecedented times together.

“Perhaps the most hurtful impact of the stigma surrounding mental illness is the common belief that women with mental illness cannot be good mothers. In a society that values ‘self-sacrificing mothers’ and rewards adherence to gender norms, we often deem that a ‘good mother’ has few needs and challenges of her own; rather, she can commit herself in her entirety to her children.

Mental illness can certainly make some aspects of motherhood more challenging, but it doesn’t disqualify those of us living with a mental health condition from being good parents. In fact, research suggests that many issues faced by mothers with mental illness are generic to all parents. While mothers with mental illness may experience more unique challenges from their symptoms, or from medication and treatment obligations, these risks can be managed with the guidance of a good collaborative care team.”
