On this day in 1965, The Righteous Brothers started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with the Phil Spector produced ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin”. The song was also No.1 in the UK for the duo (who were not related in any way).
The classic made a comeback during the mid-1980s as part of the iconic ’80s film Top Gun. After Maverick (assisted by Goose) serenades his love interest with the tune, she returns the favor by selecting it on the jukebox at his old hangout to catch his attention and reunite.
