When the Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) was started, one of the goals was to build a stronger community through technology that connects nonprofits and residents. As we move into the warmer months of the year, there are many more volunteer needs listed on our platform that we think will be of interest to residents and help BAVC continue to bring together our community!

Barrington Art Festival Recycling!

Help Make the Arts Fest more sustainable! The Village of Barrington Environmental Advisory Committee is partnering with Go Green Barrington and Mindful Waste to help minimize the environmental impact of this event. Volunteers are needed to help attendees sort into recycling, compost, and landfill receptacles. This is a great event for all ages or for families to get involved to help! Dates are May 25th & May 26th.

Let It Be Us – New Small Fundraising Committee

This is a great opportunity if you are looking to get involved with an initiative at inception and help make an impact on the most vulnerable population of Illinois children of all ages. Reaching a wide audience of families formed in multiple ways, including those touched by and formed through foster care and adoption, the Committee will build, design and implement small fundraisers, both online and in person, for the purposes of raising funds and growing awareness.

Supported by the Let It Be Us Leadership & marketing, this will be a fun and enjoyable way to get involved and provide a model of philanthropy to younger generations! Let It Be Us also has other volunteer opportunities available on our platform.

A Long Swim – Help Support Marathon Swimming For A Cure

A Long Swim designs and manages open water swimming events raising funds for ALS collaborative world-class research. These funds benefit collaborative research to find a cure for ALS, one of A Long Swim’s key beliefs. In addition, A Long Swim is currently planning an open water swim in the Chicago River, The Chicago River Swim, which will be the first of its kind in almost 100 years.

Volunteers needed to help with the behind the scenes to support the events in administrative as well as grants.

Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA)

For over 40 years, Bacoa has been one of the area’s largest nonprofits serving more than 1,900 individuals annually.

Their programming provides vital care services to keep our older adults safe and as independent as possible. Services provided include Meals with Wheels, assistance navigating government benefits, housing and care options for older adults and support for caregivers. BACOA also offer social programming to keep older adults engaged and active in the community.

Volunteers for Bacoa assist with memory care programs, social events, Meals with Wheels, and transportation & more. Check out the BAVC platform for all the opportunities!
