Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) was proud to participate in the July 4th Parade in Barrington for the first time, celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary and honoring the continuing impact of volunteerism here in our local community. Volunteers played a vital role in developing the Barrington area during its early years in the late 1800s, and the spirit of volunteer service continues today.
One of the highlights of this year’s parade was the increased participation of local nonprofits, highlighting the meaningful contributions they make to our community and its residents. BAVC encourages residents to continue to support and engage in volunteerism throughout the rest of the year!

Elderwerks – Aging Better Expo Volunteers – August 12th
Elderwerks Annual Aging Better Expo is hosting their 13 expo! This free, in-person educational event will include local resource booths, aging well presentations, and raffles.
Elderwerks is looking for volunteers to help throughout the day. Volunteers needed to help with a variety of tasks, including assisting with educational programs, serving breakfast and lunch, assisting with Elderwerks tables, greeting guests and vendors, and assisting with vendor booth breaks.

Parker Players Theater Company – Volunteers Needed!
Parker Players crafts intimate, artist driven productions that invite audiences into the heart of the story. Rooted in Barrington and inspired by Chicago’s vibrant theater tradition, they offer thoughtful, bold performances and create a shared act of connection in our community. As a thank you, volunteers will be invited to stay to watch the performance free of charge!

Walk On – Get involved with Equine Therapy!
Walk On provides equine assisted activities to people with physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities. Equine assisted activities provide motivational, educational and recreational benefits that enhance the quality of life through interaction with the horse.
Volunteers work with the staff to build a team that helps care for the horses, lesson preparation, and assist the instructor during the lesson (by leading the horse or sidewalking with the rider) as well as a variety of additional barn tasks.
There are also limited positions for office volunteers who help with office tasks like filing, organizing, and data entry plus a fundraising committee that is always looking for new members!
