26. Win 2 Tickets to Sold Out Oscar Short Films Event at The Catlow Theater
The hottest ticket in Barrington this weekend is to the SOLD OUT showing of ten Oscar-Nominated short films playing at The Catlow Theater on Saturday afternoon, February 23rd. But if you missed the chance to get tickets, we have a way for you to see the show! We just got our hands on two tickets and we’ll be giving them away in a contest right here at 365Barrington.com.
The Village of Barrington’s Cultural Commission organized Saturday’s Afternoon of Oscar-Nominated Short Films. The tickets cost $10 each, the event lasts from noon until 4 and ten Oscar-nominated short films will be shown on the Catlow’s big screen, including the 5 Oscar-Nominated Animated Short Films and 5 Live Action Short Films in the running for Oscars this Sunday.
This weekend’s 85th Academy Awards will be the first Oscars since the 85-year-old Catlow Theater completed their community-funded conversion late last year from film to the digital movie playing format required by Hollywood movie studios today.
The Catlow raised $175,000 and counting through a Kickstarter campaign launched last summer. They needed $100,000 to pay for the digital conversion and have earmarked the additional funds for needed theater improvements and repairs.
The Village’s Marketing & Events Coordinator, Anne Garrette, says it’s the first time the Village has teamed up to host a movie event with The Catlow.
Anne says the Cultural Commission took the initiative, proposed the idea to The Catlow and The Village took charge of printing tickets and promoting the event.
“I’m just shocked at the overwhelming response. Our first goal was to try and sell about 100 tickets. We sold all 550 available tickets in two weeks.”
“If it’s popular and all goes well, maybe we’ll try it again. We’ll have to assess things after this weekend and see how it goes.”
Restaurants and businesses downtown are also partnering with the Village and The Catlow, planning specials to treat the movie-goers this Saturday. You’ll find the list of specials planned for this Saturday at EnjoyBarrington.com.
If you don’t have tickets, but you’d still like to go, we have TWO TICKETS, which we’ll give away to one lucky reader. For a chance to win, just fill out the form below with your answer to the question:
