Cubs Home Opener We’ve waited a long winter for this, but the Cubs home opener is today.  The team takes on Milwaukee at 1:20, kicking off baseball season for Cubs fans throughout Chicagoland. But theirs isn’t the only home opener scheduled for this week.

Barrington Youth Baseball Services From the Friendly Confines to Barrington’s own “Field of Dreams,” it’s a big week for baseball fans.  Opening Day for Barrington Youth Baseball and Softball is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, April 17th, at the Field of Dreams, just North of Barrington High School.   The festivities kick off with a ceremony at the Field just before Noon, honoring American Legion Post 158.  A number of local veterans, who’ve been involved with Barrington baseball over the years, will be there to celebrate along with plenty of kids, parents, coaches and local baseball fans.  Members of the T-ball and Fillies teams, the youngest players in town, will be marching in a parade to start off the ceremony and there will also be plenty of food to enjoy, courtesy of Culvers.  $1 Butter Burgers, custards and refreshments are all on the menu and there will be inflatables like a “moon bounce” and slides for the little ones.  League leaders say all are welcome to come out  and celebrate the players and the start of the 2010 season.
