A weekend packed with summer fun and World Cup-themed soccer is planned at the Lake Barrington Field House today and tomorrow. They’re throwing a huge Summer Kickoff Festival to celebrate Father’s Day, the first day of summer and the first annual “Chicago Youth World Cup” tournament.
The festival runs from 8AM until Midnight today and from 8AM until 5PM tomorrow outside in front of the Lake Barrington Field House. There will be a great lineup of live music this afternoon including the bands “Emotional Shock” today at 1PM, “The Replay” at 5PM and Hudson and McCoy at 9PM. Tomorrow, 102.3FM will be there playing music and there will be Karaoke and performances by a couple of Barrington High School Bands. In addition to music, there will be a variety of food vendors, beer, wine and games like Bean Bag Toss, Baseball and Football Throw and a Pie Throwing contest where dads are the target.
The Summer Kickoff Festival is presented by Egg Harbor Cafe and is also in honor of the first annual “Chicago Youth World Cup” tournament. About 2,000 people are expected to come out to the Lake Barrington Field House this weekend to participate in the tournament and festivities. Youth soccer teams from around Chicagoland have chosen countries to represent and will be playing soccer all weekend in the spirit of the World Cup. There will also be games provided by the Chicago Fire and Chicago Red Stars and the Field House indoor turf and basketball courts will be open for pick up games as well.
