What’s bright yellow, black and was born in Barrington? The Original Dog Tracks restaurant at Main and Lageschulte Streets, of course. A stone’s-throw from Barrington High School, they’re serving up Vienna Beef hotdogs and special secret recipes every day and, now that school is back in session, they’re even staying open late.
Dog Tracks offers a great selection of quick and tasty treats for lunch or dinner, but they’re especially known for their “Legendary Hotdogs”, Gyros, Char Burgers and Italian Beef. The head chef and restaurant manager, Jesse, has been there for 20 years and the owner says he’s the only one who knows the secret recipe and seasoning combination for their Italian Beef and gravy, made fresh every morning.
The Original Dog Tracks opened in Barrington 30 years ago. And “The Original” part of the restaurant’s name is a nod to the fact that it’s one of a kind. The first owner sold the restaunt eight years ago to the family who owns it today. It’s open Monday through Friday from 10:30AM until 8PM. On Saturday and Sunday, they’re open from 11 until 6PM. And during big game nights at Barrington High School, they stay open until midnight. You can reach them by phone at 847-304-4435 and you can’t miss the bright yellow hotdog stop at 100 Lageschulte Street, right by the E, J & E Train Tracks in Barrington.
