232. Don’t Miss “Fashion’s Night Out” in Barrington

Local merchants are rolling out the red carpet for Fashionistas in Barrington tonight!  The event, called Fashion’s Night Out, is a fabulous opportunity to be the first to see the latest fall fashions at shops and restaurants throughout the Village.  15 retailers and 4 restaurants downtown are participating, by offering specials and refreshments starting at 5 p.m. tonight as part of this international shopping initiative.

According to the Fashion’s Night Out website, the movement is “An unprecedented global initiative created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy during the recession and put the fun back in shopping!”

In that spirit, retailers in Barrington are hosting special events in their stores with activities ranging from trunk shows and scarf-tying demonstrations to designer previews of jewelry and handbags.  Read on for specifics about tonight’s activities by location, but first, here’s a quick glance at the participating merchants on the map…

Each number on the map corresponds to the following merchants offering these great specials tonight…

1.)  Mia Sorella – 104 S Cook St.
Sampling wines and appetizers along with a preview of fall apparel and accessories.  In addition, 20% of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

2.)  Notice – 202 S Cook St.
“Notice Hosts Fashion’s Night Out” – New fall arrivals from Eva Franco, Orla Kiely and Lenora Dame jewelry will be unveiled along with bites and crisp fall wine.  A percentage of sales will be donated to Juvenile Diabetes, specifically “Ricky’s Ramblers” for the upcoming walk. “Shop & Get Noticed!”

3.)  Bravura – 209 S Cook St.
Explore all of the new apparel and accessory and jewelry lines at Bravura and sample the tasty food carried in their gourmet section.

4.)  Grassroots – 205 S Cook St.
Enjoy live music and food & beverage from McGonigal’s while shopping the latest fall styles.

5.)  One Girl – 119 S Cook St.
Shop the new fall arrivals of clothing, jewelry and purses at One Girl!

6.)  Urban Flair – 104 S Cook St.
Hosting a ‘Designer Showcase’ event, revealing new lines at the boutique and showcasing new pieces from existing lines.

7.)  Angelina – 200 S Cook St.
Featuring new jewelry and accessories for fall.  Serving drinks and appetizers, too, so stop in at Angelina and enjoy everything!

8.)  Barrington Running Co. –  133 Park Ave.
Visit Barrington’s new premiere running store the Barrington Running Co.  We offer top-of-the-line shoe products, exercise apparel, GPS watches, and other running accessories. Sample a yoga class and check out their fitness offerings.  Sample the nutritional foods offered at the store.

9.)  Starr Couture –  325 E Main St.
Starr Couture will feature the new Italian fall collection along with a European jewelry trunk show.  Please plan your trip to Barrington and join us for this special evening.

10.)  600 Haute Boutique – 600 S Northwest Hwy
“Haute Night Out” 6-9pm; Chicago Designer Trunk Show with sips and appetizers to enjoy while you shop. Take advantage of the Storewide Sale! 30/20/10, from 6-7:00 ~ 30% off; from 7-8:00 ~ 20% off; from 8-9:00 ~ 10% off.

11.)  G. Whiz –  724 W Northwest Hwy
Enjoy champagne and snacks while shopping the new fun fall fashions. Special focus on scarves and the many different ways to tie them, and offering a free scarf with purchase.  Local artist, Linnea Abramic, will be doing a Trunk Show featuring her hand made leather wrap bracelets embellished with African stones.

“Bring a Coat – Buy a Coat” – Bring a gently used coat or jacket to Norton’s U.S.A. on September 6 between 6 – 9 pm and receive a 20% off coupon to purchase a new coat (or other clothing item).  Norton’s U.S.A. will donate all clothing received to our local Wings location.

13.)  Savvy Spirit – Ice House Mall
Savvy Spirit offers unique sophisticated apparel, jeans and accessories for the Fall Fashion Woman. Preview our Fall Accessories and gift items. 20% of all purchases will be donated back to the Barrington Food Pantry. Come see fall fashions by “Kissy Kissy”, “Kite Strings”, and many others. 10% of all purchases will be donated to Barrington Infant and Welfare Society. Refreshments by Chessie’s will be served.

15.)  Young Tootsies – Ice House Mall
“Bring a Boot and Buy a Boot” …Bring gently used women’s or kids boots to Young Tootsies on Sept. 6 and receive 20% off your new purchase. All boots received will be donated to Soles for Souls. Champagne will be served.

16.)  McGonigal’s Pub –  105 S Cook St.
Serving a special FNO martini for $10 with $5 going back to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – SNEAK PEEK TASTINGS FROM THE MENU at THE ANNEX, McGonigal’s new bar/restaurant opening where Park Avenue Restaurant & Wine Bar used to be.

17.)  Francesca’s Famiglia – 100 E Station St.
Offering food and wine samples at Notice on South Cook Street.

18.)  Cooper’s – 117 S Hough St.
Catering several locations with delicious appetizers and nibbles!

19.)  Chessie’s Restaurant – Ice House Mall
Stop in after your Fashion Night Out shopping to Chessie’s Restaurant and enjoy a Mango Martini for $8 and $3 will be donated back to the Barrington Food Pantry.
