244. Guess Where Wednesday: A Little Barrington History

Home Newsroom 244. Guess Where Wednesday: A Little Barrington History

I was inspired to mix a little Barrington history with our mystery photo contest after sharing our story about Sam and the history of the Bread Basket earlier this week.  You’ll get a little clue to this week’s mystery photo if you take a closer look at that feature.  This might not be a very revealing photo, but the building holds so much local history.  Can anyone guess where I was standing when I took it?

If you can guess where I was standing, the business you’ll find in this building today or the bustling business that used to occupy the building in the 20th century, you could win this contest!  The prize is something linked to the place where I took the picture.  I’ll admit, you might have an advantage if you know your Barrington history. But, either way, we hope you’ll venture a guess, which is easy to do using the comments box below.

In the meantime, we drew a name to pick a winner from last week’s mystery photo contest and the winner is…

Congratulations, Leigh R. You are right! Last week’s mystery photo is picture of the window outside Cook Street Coffee painted by a local artist with the message “Sip Local”.

Cook Street Coffee is one of dozens of local restaurants, cafes and breweries taking place in this week’s Taste’fest and EXPO hosted by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and taking place this Thursday, September 20th. We have two tickets for you, Leigh, for winning our contest. If anyone else wants to come to Taste’fest, tickets are still available and can even be purchased at the door. CLICK HERE for more information on the event and to find out what restaurants are participating and CLICK HERE if you’d like to take another look at last week’s mystery photo and see all of our guesses.

And now to this week’s contest.  Entering is easy!

Here’s how the contest works…

* Submit guesses about where today’s mystery photo was taken in the comments area below for this post
* You have until the end of the day next Tuesday to submit your guess
* Next Wednesday, we’ll draw a name and reveal the winner at 365Barrington.com
* We will contact the winner with instructions about receiving the prize of the week
* Only one guess per person
* Only guesses posted here on this website (not on Facebook or Twitter) will be entered into the drawing
* Your email address must be valid, so we can contact you if you win

There you go! All you have to do is SUBMIT YOUR GUESS IN THE “COMMENTS” BOX BELOW. If you’ve guessed in our previous contests, please feel free to participate again this week! We’d love to see as many guesses as possible. We’re also working on finding more great prizes to give away for future “Guess Where Wednesday” mystery photo contests. If you would like to offer one of our upcoming prizes, please drop me a note at Liz@365Barrington.com.

In the meantime, here’s one last look at our latest mystery photo. Good luck with your guessing! We’ll share the answer and announce the winner one week from today.

Today, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday and the start of our WORDS MATTER campaign for No Name-Calling Week, bring your family together to talk about the incredible power of words. Words can harm, they can heal, they can inspire and they can change the world. Dr. King is considered by many to be one of the greatest speakers of all time, using his words, his passion, and his conviction to lead one of the most important movements in our nation's history. For today's family activity, talk about some of Dr. King's most famous quotes.
