41. Vote for Your Favorite 2013 Snow Day Photo

Home Newsroom 41. Vote for Your Favorite 2013 Snow Day Photo

Last week’s snow day inspired a new photo contest here at 365Barrington.com and we received some wonderful wintery images by the end of the day on Tuesday which answer the featured question of this contest:

What does a snow day look like to you?

Here’s one of the images that answers that question for me.  It’s our 4-year-old daughter’s very first snowman.  And it could possibly be the tiniest snowman in Barrington, complete with fruit snack eyes and a baby carrot nose.  Can you see him?

Alas, I am not eligible to win this contest, but we do have to pick a winner.  We have a gift certificate from Heinen’s Fine Foods to give away to one lucky photographer, but we need your help with deciding.

First, take a look at the photo entries in our contest gallery slideshow.  Below the gallery, you’ll find the ballot where you can put checks in the boxes to vote for your favorite or favorites.  You can pick multiple favorites, but the system will only let you vote once.

We’ll leave the voting open until the end of the day on Tuesday, when we’ll announce the winner or winners here at 365Barrington.com.

Thank you for helping is choose a winner! We’ll announce the final results at the end of the day this Tuesday, March 12th.

“Perhaps the most hurtful impact of the stigma surrounding mental illness is the common belief that women with mental illness cannot be good mothers. In a society that values ‘self-sacrificing mothers’ and rewards adherence to gender norms, we often deem that a ‘good mother’ has few needs and challenges of her own; rather, she can commit herself in her entirety to her children.

Mental illness can certainly make some aspects of motherhood more challenging, but it doesn’t disqualify those of us living with a mental health condition from being good parents. In fact, research suggests that many issues faced by mothers with mental illness are generic to all parents. While mothers with mental illness may experience more unique challenges from their symptoms, or from medication and treatment obligations, these risks can be managed with the guidance of a good collaborative care team.”
