104. Guess Where Wednesday: A Little Barrington History

It’s time for another edition of Guess Where Wednesday, our weekly mystery photo contest.  We’ll be announcing the winner of last week’s contest in just a minute.  But first, here’s a look at our new mystery photo of the week.  And, this time, we’re trying to stump you with a little Barrington history.  For a chance to win, all you have to do is tell us what business is operating out of the first floor space on Park Avenue in downtown Barrington where the old Ben Franklin Five & Dime store used to be…

If you follow our posts regularly here at 365Barrington.com, you’ll have an advantage in this week’s contest. We like to share tidbits about local history from time to time and we might have mentioned this building in a recent post so we’ll see who’s been paying attention :wink:.  All correct guessers will be entered into a drawing for a prize linked to the mystery photo’s location.

Now to last week’s mystery photo contest.  Despite our best efforts to trick you, we received many correct guesses for the place where we took this picture…

We took the photo standing in line at Boloney’s Sandwich Shop, one of the best places to grab a bite in Barrington.  See the sign in the photo below hanging on the wall above the hot dog poster?  It’s always fun to see what keepsakes Boloney’s owners, Tim & Roberta, choose to display with pride.

From The Refrigerator to the Dagwood to the Rubenesque, Boloney’s sandwiches are so good, you might actually find yourself dreaming about them from your home, car or cubicle.

One of the coolest things about Boloney’s is that you can grab a sandwich to eat during the latest movies playing inside the adjacent Catlow Theater, which leads me to the prize for our winner this week. We have two tickets to see a movie at The Catlow for our winner, we just drew a name and it’s…
