It’s been an exciting weekend here in Barrington with the Barrington homecoming parade followed by the Bronco’s homecoming victory against the Fremd Vikings. We’ve had a blast looking at all of the homecoming photos shared by Bronco fans on Facebook, but this image posted on Barrington 220’s Facebook page today of Superintendent Tom Leonard on a Segway leading the parade and the marching band down Main Street is one of our favorites from the weekend.

We wanted to bring you straight to the homecoming action so we asked Barrington High School sophomore Tommy Derken to produce two sixty second videos highlighting the sights and sounds of both the parade and the game for 365BarringtonTV.  Here’s Tommy’s look at this weekend’s homecoming day activities, starting with the pre-parade pancake breakfast and the parade itself, wrapped up in about a minute.

Tommy was also there to capture the Bronco’s homecoming victory on video.  BHS beat the Fremd High School Vikings 35-21, but Tommy says it was a hard-fought win.

“Early on I think that everybody in the stadium really didn’t think that Barington was going to win the game.  Within a few minutes of starting, Fremd scored a touchdown.  From there, Barrington really stepped it up.  We got three touchdowns in the first half, two of them by Dylan Abel and one on a QB run by Dan Kubiuk.  Midway through the fourth quarter, we had a large lightening delay and everybody was forced to leave.  They eventually finished a few hours later.  I think that one of our team’s best features is the ability to surprise ourselves and work our way to the top.  I’ve been to almost every game and, no matter how far behind we fall, we almost always pull it together for a victory.”

Here’s a look at Tommy’s video recap of the Bronco’s homecoming win in sixty seconds.

Thank you, Tommy Derken, for your excellent video coverage for 365BarringtonTV and congratulations to the BHS Broncos for the win and the fans who showed up, big time, with a major dose of Bronco spirit for Barrington Homecoming, 2013!
