Community Church of Barrington is sponsoring this Classic Christmas Matinée series at the Catlow and Pastor Rev. Dr. Zina Jacuqe will be preaching about themes from each movie in the services following each film.

Zina says we are all welcome to join the congregation for her sermons following each movie.  Here’s what she says we can expect when we come:

“What does Christmas mean to you? And how can you deepen your senses of this marvelous time of the year? At the Community Church of Barrington we are using classic Christmas movies to help us think anew and afresh about the meaning of the season that brings the birth of the Christ Child into our lives.

Each of the three December Saturdays before Christmas the Catlow will show a movie, sponsored by the Community Church of Barrington, and then on Sunday morning at 10:30 the movie will be the inspiration for the sermon.

White Christmas, the December 7th movie, will the subject for the sermon at 10:30 on December 8th. It will help us think about how we “Count Our Blessings Instead of Sheep”. It’s a Wonderful Life, the December 14th movie, will invite us to think about similarities between bank accounts and good deeds on December 15th at 10:30.

And the December 21st movie, A Christmas Story, will be the source of the December 24th 7 pm Christmas Eve service where together with Ralphie, the main character of the story, we will imagine a perfect Christmas celebration. Join us at the Catlow on Saturday Mornings at 11 AM and then at the Church for a time of celebration, worship and a new way to think about the Christmas Season and the coming of the Christ Child. All are welcome.”
