The Barrington Park District just announced that they’re introducing a new youth theater program to their menu of activities and offerings, starting with an upcoming performance of The Wizard of Oz. Participants will rehearse weekly with accredited instructors in this new theater program called Broadway Stars in partnership with Skyline Studios Children’s Theater.
All actors involved in Broadway Stars will have a chance to perform with the cast of The Wizard of Oz on stage at the Barrington Park District. Each child will receive a part, script and CD of all the songs.
The program runs on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm from February 12th through May 7th, with no class on March 26th. You can CLICK HERE to download the registration form or register online at BarringtonParkDistrict.org.
The director of the show is a woman named Amanda Bloom who holds a BFA from New York University where she studied musical theater at CAP21. Amanda has extensive training in drama, voice, and dance. She also holds a minor in Applied Theatre, with a focus on using theatre skills in educational settings. As a professional actor, Amanda has performed in New York, Connecticut, Florida, and can currently be seen performing throughout Chicagoland.
Amanda currently teaches drama, voice, and dance at the Trilogy School of Performing Arts in Lake Zurich, IL. She works with young artists between 3 and 14 years old, and offers adult dance fitness classes. She also directs and choreographs Trilogy’s fall, spring, and summer productions. Amanda has a passion for arts education, and believes in providing young people with a creative learning environment and outlet.
