Love is in the air with Valentine’s Day coming up this Friday and Barrington event planner, Christina Currie says there will be no shortage of “true romance” on display in the weddings of 2014. Christina will be showcasing some of the hottest trends in weddings during Grace Meets Glamour, her 4th annual boutique bridal show coming up on February 23rd at Biltmore Country Club. We asked Christina to share a list of wedding trends on the horizon for 2014. She broke it down to a list of five popular themes that this year’s brides-to-be can’t seem to get enough of…

1. Romantic Colors

“This year, the wedding trend is all about true romance. The brides are looking to colors like blush with soft pinks, nudes, and peach. Brides are bringing back peony and garden roses, which are very romantic. Garlands of floral and ferns across the head table will be a big trend this year.”

2. Dainty Invites

“Invitations are going smaller than 5×7. The dainty look is back. Invitations will also take it to another level by incorporating artwork designed or provided by the bride and groom, especially buildings or church structures.”

3. Family Style Dining

“Brides are leaning towards family style over a plated dinner for their receptions. It allows the guests to mix and mingle more at the tables. The waitstaff will be wearing dinner jackets and white gloves while serving the plates.”

4. Shimmering Cakes

“Wedding cakes are going back to sparkles with a fairy dust shimmer. The trend for wedding cake flavors will depend on the season of the year. The summer brides are looking for lemon flavor cakes while the winter brides are looking for warm chocolate with sea salt and caramel.”

5. Meaningful Favors

“Wedding favors are here to stay however you may see brides leaving a note for you at the end of the night regarding your special pillow treat back at your hotel room. Milk and cookies for the midnight snack or scones and jelly for the early riser in the morning are some of the latest special touches. Edible favors are still hot as well as a donation to the couples favorite charity.”

Christina says brides can expect a diverse show at this year’s Grace Meets Glamour. “I’ll be showcasing wedding vignettes from France, Italy, and Asia. The event will feature bridal fashion and live music while guests are served Champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and wedding cakes.”

You can also expect plenty of opportunities to get to know Christina’s favorite Chicago-land vendors.

“My hope is that, with a limited number of guests in attendance, you will get personalized, one-on-one attention that is so important when planning your special day! Each vendor will offer guidance, top-notch advice and will assure you feel more familiar with the planning process.”

“By the end of the show, I hope you’ll have settled some of your largest decisions, such as picking the theme, creating the right mood, floral types, entertainment, and photography.”

If you are or know a bride-to-be, Christina cordially invites you to Grace Meets Glamour on Sunday, February 23rd from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Biltmore Country Club, at 160 Biltmore Drive in North Barrington.

Christina is asking the brides who attend the event to donate $5 to Wish Upon a Wedding, an organization that helps provide dream weddings to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances. Christina Currie is a founding member of Wish Upon a Wedding’s Chicago Chapter and it’s a cause she’s particularly passionate about because of the profound impact it has on people’s lives.
