With the technology tools and social media resources at our fingertips today, creating a buzz about your business, cause or upcoming event is easier now than ever before. After publishing 365Barrington.com for nearly four years, I’ve accumulated some TOP SECRET (Shhh!) tips and tricks that can help get people talking about the content you create.  And I’ll be sharing FIVE of those tips at a program TONIGHT hosted by the Barrington Area Library.

The library invited me to be a guest in their new “Community Coversations” series where they talk to local residents about their life and work here in Barrington.  The conversation will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. TONIGHT (March 20th) in The Garlands of Barrington’s Surround Sound theater.

With the fourth anniversary of 365Barrington.com’s debut coming up on April first (no foolin’), tonight I will share five of my tried and true secrets to spreading the word about great stuff happening in our community and I’ll also try my best to deliver on the library’s very kind description of our work:

“Liz Luby’s popular 365 Barrington web site celebrates the people, places and spirit of Barrington every day of the year. Learn what inspires Luby to share our community with local readers and the world at large, and how her advocacy has spurred innovations in entertainment, education and social media here in Barrington. Register. The Garlands Surround Sound Theater.”

Not only will I share my tips for getting the word out about your cause, business or event in both the print and online media, I’ll also be answering Adult Services Librarian Eileen Gallagher’s questions about the reasons why I created 365Barrington.com in the first place.

I’ll explain why I’ve kept the website going and how we’ve been able to grow the site from one follower (my brother, Jim) to tens of thousands of pageviews per month.

I’ll also reveal a few tidbits about how my days as a television news reporter and anchor paved the way for the work we’re doing today at 365Barrington.com.

After working in TV for ten years, I left the newsroom behind to pursue a career selling real estate in Barrington, which brought me right back to my work as a journalist using the self-publishing and digital marketing tools available today.

Lastly, we hope you’ll join us to find out how you, too, can reach our audience at 365Barrington.com. I might resurrect more photos like this one for a few laughs at my expense. (Can you guess what year the image below dates back to?)  As always, thank you for visiting and I hope to meet some of you, face-to-face, tonight!
