It’s St. Patrick’s Day week so it’s very fitting that there’s a lucky new twist in our Spring Break Makeover Contest hosted by Avalon Salon & Spa Deer Park right here at 365Barrington.com. The contest judges at Avalon were planning to select three contest entrants as winners, receiving full makeovers at their Deer Park Town Center salon. Instead, they’ve chosen two additional winners, bringing the total number of makeover recipients to FIVE WINNERS!
Dozens of people entered the contest and Avalon Salon & Spa co-owner Bonnie Conte says it was tough to narrow it down to five winners. The salon owners and management team worked together to select the makeover recipients and say they are so excited to be part of these transformations inspired by Avalon’s latest spring looks in hair, skin and nail care.
After hours of pampering, all of our contest winners will walk out of Avalon Salon & Spa with a new haircut & color, a full facial, brow shaping, skin consultation, makeup application PLUS a manicure and pedicure!
Entering the contest was as easy as answering this one simple question:
Why do you or someone you know deserve a spring makeover from Avalon Salon & Spa?
So without further delay, here are the winners of our contest along with photos and their answers to our contest question…
Winners 1 & 2: TammyLynn & Doug Brewer
Our first winner is TammyLynn Brewer of Fox River Grove whose name was submitted for a makeover by TWO separate people. TammyLynn’s daughter Brianna and her husband, Doug, both entered her into our contest and here are their reasons why:
“I would love my mom to have the opportunity for this makeover because she never puts herself first. I’m number six of TEN children and her life is about all of us.”
“She’s always running crazy for us and never takes time out for herself. I think it’s been over a year since she’s had a haircut!… So for once I would like my Mom to take the time to get pampered and look as good as she feels now!”

TammyLynn’s husband Doug also entered her into our makeover contest with this sweet tribute.
“My wife has given birth to, and raised, 10 wonderful children over the last 25 years. As you can see from our family photo (see below), her work is still ongoing with several children still in grammar school. She has devoted herself to the children, always putting them first.”
“I would love for her to be the center of attention, getting all the pampering for a change. She deserves the best life has to offer, in addition to the joy, and chaos, that our children bring on a daily basis.”

The salon’s management team was so impressed when they read these submissions, they decided to offer makeovers to both TammyLynn AND her husband Doug! Bonnie Conte put it this way… “Any two parents that can successfully raise ten children by themselves deserve makeovers!” Doug, that means you will receive a full spa treatment, too, including a haircut and color (if you’d like) PLUS an Avalon Salon Pure Focus Facial, a brow shaping and a gentleman’s manicure. Now I’d call this you’re lucky day, Doug 😉 !!!
Winner #3: Patricia Krucek
Bonnie Conte says the judges chose Patricia Krucek, a single mom from Lake Zurich, as our third contest winner because of her brother, Joe Krucek’s entry. “We were touched by the fact that she’s the strong one working to keep her family in tact and putting her family first in times of need so we want to help nurture Patricia and have her feel really great about herself.”
Here are some excerpts from her brother Joe’s entry… “I feel that my sister Patricia Krucek should win the make over because if there was ever a hard working mom it is her. My sister works two jobs, helps out at her daughter’s school and is always there to help family or a perfect stranger…”
“The money she does have always goes to bills or to getting something for her daughter that she needs (i.e. clothes, shoes, field trips)”
Joe also says Patricia always helps hold their family together through difficult times.
“After our father died, she was and has always been the strong one to keep the family in tact. She was the one I came to to talk about everything and it seemed like she needed someone, but never asked and just went through life.”
Joe says he tries to help his sister with expenses. “But it doesn’t seem to even put a dent into everything that she has done for everyone in life. She has even taken in people just to make sure that they could be comfortable so they can get on their feet. I feel like that a makeover would help her get some of her confidence back and show her that she is appreciated even when she doesn’t ask to be.”

Winner #4: Laura Lightfine
Bonnie Conte says they chose the fourth contest winner based on an entry received from Barrington resident, Carol Lightfine who entered the contest on behalf of her daughter, Laura Lightfine.
“After undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor last July, my daughter Laura lost her job and insurance due to the long recovery. She had a good hair-cut back in July but hasn’t been able to afford one since. SHE DESERVES A MAKE OVER!!”

Bonnie Conte at Avalon says, “We were very moved by the story of Laura going through surgery, losing her job, her long road to recovery and the financial difficulties she has endured as a result. We really look forward to treating Laura to some much needed pampering.”
Winner #5: Jagoda Trzop
For our fifth contest winner, Avalon’s judges selected the entry from Jessica Trzop of Palatine who says her mom, Jagoda, is well deserving of a new look along with a day of pampering.
“I would love to have my mom, Jagoda Trzop win this spring makeover from Avalon! She spends her days taking care of her family and many times forgets about herself. Since she retired 5 years ago, she has struggled with being diagnosed diabetic, taking care of her elderly parents and adjusting to staying home with her husband and son…
I would love my mom to have a day for herself to make her feel good again and add a little sunshine and spirit to her look. She works so hard to make sure her family is taken care of, she has forgotten about herself. My mom is an amazing mom, woman, daughter and wife who would love to have a fresh look which would make her heart smile again.”
