For 12 years, the Modern Day Romeos have been receiving rave reviews from around Chicago as one of the city’s best and most energetic cover bands. On Sunday, May 18, the band will be bringing their unique energy to the Wellness Place Community Cancer Walk/Celebration at the Arboretum of South Barrington in a concert played “straight from the heart”.
Chris Perfect is Modern Day Romeos‘ (MDR’s) bass guitarist and managing partner. He says they’re excited to perform at this event for very personal reasons. “Like anyone else, our band members have experienced the struggles of cancer and we want to do anything we can to unite and inspire people to persevere.”
Chris’s father has been fighting cancer since 2012, and Chris says he knows how important education and resources are in the fight against the disease. “Organizations like Wellness Place are amazing gifts to families dealing with cancer. I know we can all benefit from seeking help during stressful times.”
In addition to his father, Chris lost his mother-in-law in 2011 from cancer. His grandfather died just three weeks before her from throat cancer. The band’s drummer, Mike Zaitz, lost his mother to brain cancer.
“Modern Day Romeos is honored to be able to join Wellness Place supporters and participants at this special gathering to celebrate life and remember those who’ve been lost. We know it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” And Chris says they’re planning a great show just for Wellness Place at this weekend’s event!
