The merchants in downtown Barrington will host their annual FREE Summer Wine Walk from 2 to 6 p.m. this Saturday, August 16. This event brings the community together to enjoy a summer day in Barrington with an afternoon of shopping, strolling and wine tasting and the weather forecast looks fabulous for some late summer sipping!
Merchants plan to showcase their end-of-summer sales and new merchandise for the fall season. In addition, customers who make a purchase in any of the participating stores will be eligible to win one of 3 baskets full of gift cards to Barrington stores and restaurants.
The Summer Wine Walk will offer free wine tastings and other tasty treats along the way. Sixteen shops and nine restaurants & wine merchants are participating in this enjoyable event. Customers can begin the Wine Walk at any participating business by picking up a location map for the tasting. The participating stores are:
* Village Center Merchants – Anderson’s Candy Shop, Angelina, Barrington Flower Shop, Bravura Home & Gift Shop, Gene Ann’s Yarns, Grassroots, Mia Sorella, Notice, Solisq, The Annex, Urban Flair and Vin Chicago
* Norton’s U.S.A., Barrington’s uniquely American general store, will host their event on Lageschulte Street.
* Barrington Commons and North Cook Street merchants include Carol and Company, Fleur de Lis Salon, Heads Up Boutique and OMO.
The Summer Wine Walk Wine Walk is a wonderful opportunity for shoppers and visitors to experience the shops and restaurants in the downtown Barrington, Lageschulte Street, Barrington Commons and the new shops on North Cook Street. It is also a chance for these shops to highlight their merchandise, unique gifts and specialty items. Vin Chicago, Vintage Wine & Spirits and The Annex will also hold wine tastings during the Summer Wine Walk at their locations.
Plan to spend the afternoon walking around the village, tasting good wine, socializing with friends, finding that unique one of a kind gift, and then settling in for a wonderful dinner on one of the fine restaurants in Barrington. Anne Garrette, event and marketing coordinator for the Village of Barrington says this event is a great way to celebrate the season.
“This is the fourth year the Village has hosted wine walks, and the merchants are pleased to use this event to highlight end of summer shopping and introduce new items for the fall”.
The wines for Saturday’s event are being provided by Heinen’s Fine Foods, Cooper’s, The Annex, McGonigal’s Pub, Grassroots, Vintage Wine & Spirits, Ciao Baby, Tip Top Tap and Vin Chicago.
