Want to taste “The Southwest’s Best Kept Secret”? Heinen’s Grocery is hosting their annual New Mexico Hatch Chile roast on September 11th, 12th and 13th. Let Heinen’s roaster do the work so you can enjoy what aficionados consider one of the most flavorful roasting peppers in the world.
Heinen’s associates will be roasting Hatch Chiles outside the store from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, September 11th, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th. Delicious tastings will be available, while supplies last!!
Grown only in the fertile Hatch Valley of New Mexico, Hatch Chiles have a mild-medium heat and distinctively robust and earthy flavor not found in any other chile. Growers and Chefs alike say that the intense sunlight, hot days and cool nights in this valley result in a prized and uniquely flavored chile.
Hatch chiles are large, thick skinned, meaty and come in a variety of heat levels to suit every chile-lover’s craving. Purchase yours and Heinen’s will roast them for you this weekend to use in your favorite recipes like Chile Con Queso, Chile Rellenos, and Chile Verde. But, don’t stop there! Try roasting or grilling them to use in in rellenos, salads, soups, burgers, omelets, hot dogs, burritos, tacos, on pizza, corn bread, cookies, sauces and seafood. The possibilities are endless!
You can even click here to preorder Heinen’s Hatch Chiles, but they’re only available for a limited time, so get ’em while they’re hot! And, for a list of mouth-watering Hatch Chile recipes, visit Melissas.com.
Heinen’s Grocery is located at 500 N. Hough Street, between E. Main Street and Route 14 (next to Meathead’s) in Barrington, Illinois. They’re open 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit Heinens.com.
