New York Times best selling author, Jessica Lahey will be at Barrington High School on March 7th to discuss her book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed. She’s the latest guest author to be featured in The Barrington Speaker Series, brought to us by the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation and PTO Presidents Council.

The Gift of Failure focuses on the critical school years when parents must learn to allow their children to experience the disappointments and frustrations that come from life’s inevitable problems so they can grow up to become successful, resilient and self-reliant adults. The book addresses over-protectiveness in modern parenting and the value of encouraging children to take risks with advice for handling homework, report cards, social dynamics, and sports.

Jessica Lahey is a middle and high school educator, parent and regular contributor to The New York Times, The Atlantic and Vermont Public Radio. She will be signing copies of her book, which will be available for purchase immediately following the event.

Since 2008, the Barrington Speaker Series has welcomed well-known authors with experience in education and parenting to the Barrington 220 community thanks to the generosity of those who support the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation and PTO Presidents Council.

An evening with Jessica Lahey will take place in the Barrington High School auditorium at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7th.  CLICK HERE to RSVP and learn more about the book and author at JessicaLahey.com.
