For the first time since the 2013 groundbreaking in its $247 million campus expansion and modernization project, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital is opening its doors for a Community Open House to showcase many of the hospital’s new features. The open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14th. Guests will tour the private patient rooms in Good Shepherd’s new north pavilion and view the hospital’s new operating rooms and breast center.

Good Shepherd Hospital’s Community Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 will include:

  • Ribbon-cutting: Ceremony at 1 p.m. to honor our community and our patients
  • Guided tours: Explore the north patient care pavilion and new main entrance, including:
    • Private patient rooms
    • New operating rooms
    • New breast center
  • Live entertainment: Star 105.5 FM will join us for live interviews and on-site entertainment
  • Free gear: Free bike helmet and complimentary expert fittings available to the first 200 attendees

Project donors helped break ground on the project in October of 2013 and the renovation won’t be complete until next summer. But Good Shepherd Hospital President Karen Lambert says they’ve come a long way thanks to support from the community.

“We could never stand here today without the substantial support of our many friends and neighbors throughout the communities we serve. The new look of the patient care pavilion with private rooms, new main entrance and new operating rooms are a representation of what we truly can accomplish as a health care organization. We are here because of our community and we want to continue to enhance the quality of care for our patients.”

“Over 200 associates, physicians and leaders contributed to the planning and development of the project,” says Allison Wyler, administrator for clinical and support services at Good Shepherd Hospital. “We were very thoughtful in how the new spaces were aligned to meet the demands of the future. We focused on access and convenience by placing outpatient services close to the entrances and co-locating services so that patients and visitors can easily get to the places they need.”

The hospital will enhance the patient care experience by increasing privacy through the new addition of private rooms in the patient care pavilion. Good Shepherd Hospital is also unveiling the most advanced technology through state-of-the-art operating rooms and smart rooms that allow the patient to streamline communications with their caregivers. In anticipation of the ever-changing health care industry, Good Shepherd Hospital has also improved the layout of the facility by co-locating outpatient services and making it more convenient to access inpatient and outpatient destinations.
