Leave it to Heinen’s Grocery to throw a party for their produce! Guests had a blast listening to live music while celebrating the Hatch Green Chile during Heinen’s annual Hatch Chile Roast. They added a pig roast to this year’s party and fired up their equipment for guests to bring home roasted Hatch Chiles by the bagful. Heinen’s associates also prepared drinks and dishes featuring the starring ingredient, including Hatch Chile Margaritas and piping hot batches of Hatch Chile Paella.
Hatch Chiles have a very short season starting at the beginning of August and running through the beginning of September. Prized for their exceptional spicy flavor and versatility, they are green peppers grown exclusively in Hatch, New Mexico. Hatch Chiles are an essential ingredient in any authentic Southwestern recipe calling for green chilies. True Hatch fanatics have been known to take them home by the caseload and freeze them to use throughout the year.
Sounds like a great reason to celebrate!
Ask any Heinen’s associate about Hatch Chiles or inquire daily about the freshest in-season produce. Whether you’re looking for the newest and most popular ingredients in store or advice on how to prepare and serve foods at home, Heinen’s always has you covered and they’re happy to help. Just look at these smiling faces. I guess that’s what happens when you “Catch the Hatch”!
