Everybody Cut Loose, FOOTLOOSE on Stage at Barrington High School!

Who’s ready to cut footloose? Get ready to kick off your Sunday shoes when Barrington High School Fine Arts Department presents the musical Footloose from February 20-23rd at BHS. Performers will take the stage to show you what happens when a small Midwestern hometown decides to make dancing and rock music illegal.

Performance Schedule:

  • Thursday, February 20 from 7-9 p.m.
  • Friday, Feb 21 from 7-9 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 22 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 23 from 2-4 p.m.

The ticket price is $13 for adults, $8 for children & students. Admission is free for BHS students with ID and senior citizens.

The musical is based on the 1984 film of the same name. It tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy who moves to a small town. Upon arriving, Ren finds himself at odds with the town’s ban against dancing. As he struggles to fit in, Ron faces an uphill battle to change things. With the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt, and defiant teen Ariel Moore, he might loosen up this conservative town. But Ariel’s influential father, Reverend Shaw Moore stands in the way.

The Barrington High School Theater Department provides students with a skills-based education in areas of performance and technical theater. The courses are open to all grade levels and consists of Theater I, Theater, II and Actor’s Workshop (which may be taken multiple times). In addition to curricular programs, the department offers many co-curricular opportunities for students to continue to develop skills as artists and technicians in two main stage plays, one main stage musical, and student directed studio productions. The BHS Drama Club includes over 150 theater enthusiasts that fosters an appreciation of theater, as well as a more sensitive and reflective understanding of the world around them. Annual tour destinations include Illinois High School Theater Festival and Stratford Shakespeare Theater Festival.
