[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Welcome to Day 11 of 365! You’ll find our stories of the day – past, present & future (events) – right here on today’s DailyPage.
Because every day has its own rhythm, we’re sharing a song of the day here at 365Barrington.com.
Today’s features American blues musician Slim Harpo. His most successful and influential recordings included ‘I’m a King Bee’ (1957), ‘Rainin’ In My Heart’ (1961), and ‘Baby Scratch My Back’ (1966). A master of the blues harmonica, Slim’s stage name was derived from the popular nickname for that instrument, the “harp”. He was born on this day, January 11th, in 1924.
One of my first jobs was as a radio DJ hosting a blues show at WEFT 90.1 fm Community Radio as a freshman at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. They had walls and walls of vintage vinyl which sort of blew my mind. Ok so it might not have been a paid gig but it was THE BEST! I loved every minute because I appreciate how some music takes you back… in the same way memories of your grandmother connect you to a fascinating world before your time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]
