On this day, January 30th in 1975, The Bee Gees began recording ‘Jive Talkin’, which became their second US chart topper and No.5 UK hit. Barry Gibb’s inspiration for the song came when his wife commented on the sound their car made while crossing a bridge over Biscayne Bay into Miami. She noted, “It’s our drive talkin’.” The song’s rhythm was modelled after the sound their car made crossing the Julia Tuttle Causeway each day from Biscayne Bay to Criteria Studios in Miami.
I don’t know about you, but’s a rhythm that takes me WAY BACK! I remember this record playing in our family room while my brother and I played “Hot Lava” on the couch, record player spinning nearby. Pretty sure the Neil Diamond and Kenny Rogers records were also within reach. Wow, dad, you were pretty cool back in the 70’s! 😉 We don’t have a picture, but it’s a snapshot that’s lives in my mental photo album.

Free Recipe Friday!
This one is perfect for a Thanksgiving side dish 🦃 🍽️
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
-2.5 lbs green beans cut into 1-inch pieces
-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
-1 large onion sliced thin
-3 tbsp all-purpose flour
-1/2 tsp sea salt
-2.5 cups low-fat milk
-1.5 cups whole wheat bread crumbs
𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
1. Preheat oven to 425
2. Toss green beans in a bowl with 1 tablespoon olive oil and divide into two baking sheets
3. Roast green beans for 20-25 minutes until tender
4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a saucepan over medium heat
5. Add onions and cook until soft. Add flour and salt. Add milk and keep stirring until the sauce is thick (for about 4 minutes).
6. Once green beans are done being roasted, preheat the oven to broil
7. Transfer half the green beans to the baking sheet, then cover with half the sauce. Layer the other half of the green beans and cover with the rest of the sauce.
8. Combine bread crumbs and remaining oil into a small bowl and sprinkle over green beans.
9. Place green beans in the oven on broil for 2-4 minutes, and watch until breadcrumbs become brown at the top
10. Let it sit for 10 minutes before serving
