Set a Volunteer Date with Dad & the BAVC this Father’s Day

Father’s Day is the time to honor the father figures in our life and the impact they have had. It’s also a great time to show children the importance of family, community and giving back. With Father’s Day this weekend and our July 4th celebrations right around the corner, here are a couple ways to spend time with Dear Old Dad and do good at the same time:

Elderwerks Make A Senior Smile Program

Help craft or write cards for Independence Day cards and the Summer & brighten the day of local seniors! You can join in person on Monday, June 19th 1 pm- 3 pm at Elderwerks or pick up a card making kit in advance at Elderwerks (Contact Emily). Card materials will be provided by Greener Good! This is a great family activity and all ages can participate.

Family Fun for Independence Day

Start your Independence Day holiday weekend with Volunteering for a great cause! The Village of Barrington Hills, together with Cuba Township, is hosting its 3rd annual Land We Love Run on Saturday, July 1st. Volunteers needed for all parts of the event from setup, registration, water stations, finish line, etc. The 10K run, 5K run/walk or the 2-mile walk will begin at 7:30 AM. Race proceeds will benefit Folds of Honor and the Cuba Township Food Pantry. Volunteers are needed from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM, but help at any time during that window is appreciated.

BAVC’s platform also has many other volunteer opportunities for those who like to be outside working in the area through our many restoration and conservation nonprofits.
