Shake up the Mid-Winter Blues with the Barrington Area Volunteer Connection!

February is the point of the winter where everyone starts to feel the effects of the winter. Beat the winter doldrums by keeping connected through volunteering! The Parker Players Theater Company, NeuroBalance Center and The Bridge Youth & Family Center are all looking for help this season. And The Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) has all of the details to help us stay connected while having fun doing something worthwhile!

Here are a few of the current, fun volunteer needs listed on the BAVC platform:

Parker Players Theater Company — Enjoy ART for Free!

Parker Players is looking for volunteers to help as Ushers, Hall Docents, & Bartenders! The performance of ART by Yasmina Reza, directed by Barrington’s own Dominic Green, will be held at The Barrington Performing Arts Center, 540 W. Northwest Highway.

NeuroBalance Center – Piano Player Needed!

Beginning mid February 2024, Neurobalance will be offering a new program that will require an occasional piano player. (There is a piano on site). This volunteer opportunity is for a few Tuesdays from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm at NeuroBalance Center.

NeuroBalance Center – Volunteer Van Drivers Needed!  

Neurobalance Center is still in need of volunteer van drivers to help provide rides in their wheelchair lift equipped van for their clients that have no other means of getting to the center. This volunteer commitment is flexible and can range from a half-day to a full day one or more days a month.

The Bridge Youth & Family Center – Help Mentor for Youth!

Be a friend, teacher, caring listener, coach and role model for a child between the ages of 11 and 15! The Bridge helps kids and families achieve social and emotional health by providing mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and youth mentoring services.

Also, The Bridge Youth and Family Services is in need of Associate Board Members. The Associate Board aims to be a multidisciplinary team of young professionals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and talents committed to aiding the success of The Bridge through community outreach, fundraising, and increase awareness about our programs.
