If your new year’s resolutions include setting aside a little extra time to Give Back, The Barrington Area Volunteer Connection is your go-to resource to find neighbors and organizations in need of support. This can happen in many forms – it can be a simple kind act for someone, a charity event, or as we hope many do, by volunteering to give some extra help to the community around us. Regardless of how you embrace the act of Giving Back, it’s the spirit of what it means that is important!

Below are some of the larger organizations on BAVC that have multiple volunteer opportunities. We hope you will consider them as you think about ways to Give Back:

Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA)

BACOA has been the Barrington area’s primary resource since 1984 for helping families, and caregivers manage the process for aging. Their programs and services help older adults navigate this stage in life and find solutions to maintain a quality of life depending on their needs, wants and abilities.

Volunteers are needed for several different roles within BACOA and are flexible to meet different time commitments. Click here to learn more.

Walk On Farm

The mission of this nonprofit is to provide equine assisted activities to people with physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities. These type of activities provide motivational, educational and recreational benefits to improve the participants quality of life.

Walk On’s volunteers work with their staff to build a team that helps care for the horses, prepare the horses for the lesson, and assist the instructor during the lesson as well as a variety of additional barn tasks and office volunteer help.

Little City

As Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) ends its 3rd year, we wanted to extend heartfelt thanks to the residents who support us, the nonprofits who give so much to the community and to our BAVC partners & Advisory Board!

Happy New Year!
