There’s something curiously inviting about Barrington’s Steeplechase Antiques. It’s a small shop just west of Lageschulte right on Barrington’s Main Street and it has caught my eye a million times.
Maybe it’s the name. Before she moved to her Main Street location, owner Karrin DaBoll first ran her antiques business out of her Barrington Hills barn on Steeplechase Road. Maybe it’s the location.
Tucked away in a nondescript space on the way into Barrington Hills, Karrin’s shop is easy to miss, but so much fun to find. She grew up in Barrington, loves that her business is so close to home and spends her days outside the “office” searching for treasures for her store. Her inventory changes every week because she’s always on the hunt for new pieces. When Karrin hits the road, she travels with a 16-foot trailer to fit all her new finds.
She hits estate sales, auctions, wholesale dealers, antique shows and flea markets in Southern Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and throughout Illinois. She loves finding unique pieces of antique furniture, artwork, lighting, garden items and she has an eye for unique and eclectic home accessories.
You’ll find Steeplechase Antiques at 425 West Main Street in Barrington. The shop is open Friday and Saturdays from 11-5PM and she’s open on some Thursdays, too. I have an old kitchen table with chairs ( i think it is old) that I purchased from a flea market. I did refinish it and added some paint to the legs of the table and chairs. I would like to sell it but I am not sure if you are interested in it.
