On the outside, this home has all the character of a classic vintage Victorian. On the inside, it hums with today’s most efficient systems. Built in 2004 on what used to be part of the old Hough Street church parking lot, the current owner of this property was given the green light to construct a brand new home here in the heart of Barrington’s historic district. It is a rare find and a unique opportunity to purchase a newer home with all the charm of yesteryear.

This home is right next door to one of Barrington’s most lovely little memorial parks and it’s a short walk to all of downtown Barrington’s most exciting destinations. Cook Street Coffee, The Catlow Theater, the new McGonigal’s Pub, Park Avenue Wine Bar and Merchant, Kaleidoscoops Ice Cream Shop, the Barrington Metra station and a plethora of parks surround this special space.

Here’s the quick picture: 5 bedrooms, 4-and-a-half baths, 2 car garage, full finished lower level with full bath, full stairs to great and liveable attic space and a list price of $997,000.  You’ll find lots of interior photos, room dimensions, virtual tours, property disclosures and all of the listing details by clicking HERE.  This property is easy to show, so please call Suzanne and Liz Luby to make arrangements at 847-691-3150.  Take one look at this happy home and you just might have met your match!

    • Yes – the lower level is also the basement. It’s a great space…with a rec area, billiard room (You might prefer another label here), bedroom, bathroom, mechanicals room, hobby area, etc… – but you can call all of these spaces whatever you like. As you know, people create different rooms based on their needs. I’m more likely to call it a “basement” in my house…because it’s not finished and it’s dark and cold. In this house on Cook Street, it feels more like an extension of the upstairs levels. Are you in the market for a property like this? We live in the neighborhood and really love it here. Please let me know if you’d like more info about this property or the Barrington Village in general. You can reach me at 847-691-3150 and thanks, sincerely, for your comments and for starting a conversation here. Have a nice night, Liz
