A record breaking number of votes came in for our Spring Break 2012 photo contest and we’re excited to announce today that we have THREE WINNERS! 51 percent of the almost 600 votes cast were for a photo called “Baby’s First Spring Break” taken by local photographer, Emily Hernandez. Emily takes the top prize in our contest, for the second year in a row! And with a wee one in the family, the Hernandez family chose to celebrate spring break right here at home.

The top prize in this year’s contest is a $50 gift card to spend at retail shops throughout Barrington that are among the 900+ members of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce. Chamber president, Janet Meyer, says she’s thrilled to see the prize go to someone who planned a spring break staycation right here in the Barrington area. The photo that scored second place, with 35 percent of the vote, is an image called “Close Encounters” taken by Laury Kossoff…

Laury is also in the professional photography business and is co-owner of a local company called Pizzazz Photo Booth that provides photo booths for charitable events and parties like weddings, reunions, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. And I can’t help but share two more of my favorites from this year’s contest. This image, captured by photographer Kelly Katis, makes me hear the waves, feel the warmth and wish I were on a beach somewhere far, far from home.

And this one, submitted by photographer Laura Lieske, makes me fast forward to a day when I’ll be snapping vacation pics of the guys in my family fresh off the fishing boat.
