Home Newsroom 167. 2nd Annual Dash for the Dogs at Citizens Park

It’s the social event of the season – FOR DOGS – and it’s happening tomorrow, Saturday June 9th, at Citizens Park in Barrington.  Animal House Shelter is hosting their second annual Dash for the Dogs 5K and 1 mile fun run for families, dogs and kids and the forecast looks terr-ruff-ic!

Dash for the Dogs is an annual fundraiser that is held to raise much needed funds for the medical bills of special needs animals at Animal House Shelter, one of the closest shelters to Barrington in Huntley, Illinois. Animal House believes every animal deserves a chance and due to that they take on many animals with injuries and medical conditions which require extensive and expensive medical treatment.

Pooches of all ages and breeds are invited to take part and organizers hope to have a great showing of four-legged-friends (and their humans) to raise awareness and help the cause by “giving every animal a shot!”…

The 5k will begin at 8am and the 1 Mile Fun Run will Start at 10:00am. Dogs are welcome to walk/run the 1 mile fun run but not allowed to run the 5k. There will be Awards for the Top 3 Male and Female runners as well as awards for the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group.

If you want to pre-register, the cost to take part is $20 for the fun run and $25 for the 5K if you sign up in advance by phone at 847-961-5541 or online by clicking HERE.  You can also sign up tomorrow, the day of the dog dash, for $30.  All registered runners will receive a t-shirt, while supplies last.

Citizens Park is at 511 Lake Zurich Road in Barrington.  For more information about the shelter and the cause, visit their website at AnimalHouseShelter.com.
