For Day 5 of our 12 Days of recipes, we’re enjoying a more festive version of Sweet & Sour Cocktail Meatballs.
These meatballs are a very popular menu item during the holidays and I put a slightly more elegant spin on the traditional recipe by using whole berry cranberry sauce in place of jelly.
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup bread or cracker crumbs
1/2 cup water
Salt, pepper and garlic salt to taste
1 bottle chili sauce
1 can (1-1/2 cups) whole berry cranberry sauce
Mix sauce ingredients and heat before adding meat balls. Form meatball ingredients into balls and put in sauce. Cover and simmer at least 45 minutes if cooking on stove, and 2 hours if cooking in crock pot.
