If you like food, wine and celebrity chefs, there’s a two-day event that’s just for you happening at Heinen’s Fine Foods in Barrington this week. The Food Network’s very own Executive Chef Rob Bleifer will be talking with shoppers about how he pairs his foods with wine at Heinen’s this Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 to 3 p.m.
Chef Bleifer will be offering tastings of Entwine wines, the Food Network’s very own signature wine label, created in partnership with Wente Vineyards.
You’ll be able to taste the Entwine wines alongside dishes prepared in Heinen’s own kitchen and ask Chef Bleifer how he chooses the wines he pairs with his own culinary creations.
Chef Bleifer’s job at the Food Network is to oversee the team that takes care of the food needs for about 15 shows. His team caters events in the kitchen, food-styles for photo shoots, develops recipes for Food Network Kitchens, sets show hosts up at local talk shows, preps and styles for vignettes, and many other projects.
He also creates the menus for the Food Network’s catered events, food-style photo shoots and hosts Entwine food & wine pairing events across the country.
Chef Bleifer says his culinary icon is Wolfgang Puck, and his favorite cookbooks are Jean-Louis Palladin’s Cooking with the Seasons and Rick Bayless’ Authentic Mexican.
He says one of the kitchen tools he can’t live without is a rasp grater and, when he’s in the kitchen, the music he most likes to listen to is “Modern or classic rock, as long as it has a good beat.”
This week’s tasting events are free and all are invited. Just stop by Heinen’s Fine Foods anytime this Friday, April 26th from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 27th, from 11 to 3.
