One of the most happy (and crowded) places to be in Barrington today will be the Metra train platform in the morning, with Blackhawks fans of all ages heading down to the team’s Stanley Cup celebration and parade in Chicago.
When the Hawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010, daily commuters shared train cars with hordes of Barrington Hawks fans heading downtown for the festivities. Judging by this rowdy crowd of fans celebrating the team’s championship win at Wool Street this week…
I suspect we’ll have a big Barrington showing during today’s Hawks parade in Chicago.
The City of Chicago will celebrate the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28 with a rally in Hutchinson Field in Grant Park following a parade along Washington Street, starting at Des Plaines Street and going to Wabash Street.

Speaking of Hawks fans, we have a contest to wrap up and some prizes to give away!
Last week, we put out a call to find Barrington’s Biggest Blackhawks fan. We received quite a few entries and that’s making it tough to choose a winner so we’re going to put it to a vote. Heinen’s Fine Foods in Barrington is sponsoring this contest and offering $100 and $25 prizes to the two top fans.
We’ve set up a poll and are requesting that you help us choose our winners. All you have to do is put checks in the boxes by the person or people who get your vote for Barrington’s Biggest Hawks Fan. You can choose more than one favorite, but you can only vote once. You have through Sunday to cast your vote, we’ll reveal the results on Monday and you’ll find the ballot below. Each contender was nominated by someone locally and has a story about what makes them “Barrington’s Biggest Blackhawks Fan”.
Here’s a slideshow where you can review all of the nominees’ photos…
And here’s where you cast your vote.

Ruthie is a BH nut! Nuff said….
That is the cutest little girl you are with in the picture, Megan….
It’s hard to imagine anyone being a more ardent, intense and rabid Blackhawk fan than Ruthie. She has a collection of Blackhawk memorabilia and knickknacks that is museum-like in proportions. She had to go into therapy during the lockout. She’s the real deal!
