Well it sure was fun while it lasted! During the Stanley Cup final playoffs we hosted a contest at 365Barrington.com in search of Barrington’s Biggest Blackhawks Fan. Readers submitted photos and nominated friends (or themselves) for this distinguished honor and we decided to let you choose the winner.
We opened it up to a vote, closed the poll last night and, today, we’re excited to announce that Barrington’s Biggest Blackhawks Fan, with 36% of the votes received, is….
A 2007 BHS graduate, Megan was born and raised in Barrington. The photo shows Megan all dressed up in her Hawks finest with her niece, Madeline. Megan was nominated by her mom, Dawn Feit, who says…
“Megan is 24 years old and has been a diehard Blackhawks fan for a number of years. She never misses a game. She dresses in Blackhawks jerseys and T-shirts almost every day of the week. She wears her lucky Sharp jersey and blackhawks earrings while watching the Blackhawks game. She sits in her lucky spot on the floor in the living room to watch the game. Her boyfriend bought her tickets this year for her birthday…and she was thrilled! If she goes to a friends house to watch the game she always brings a treat that she makes herself with some sort of Blackhawks logo or decoration on it! For Christmas she bought all 6 of her nieces and nephews Blackhawks jerseys. Even her pet bunny wears a little #10 jersey!”
Aside from bragging rights for this highly distinguished honor, Megan wins a $100 gift certificate to spend at Heinen’s Fine Foods in Barrington. Heinen’s sponsored our contest and has their fair share of Hawks fans on staff so you know you’ll be in good company when you shop there!
But Heinen’s didn’t stop there. They’re also offering a $25 gift certificate for our runner up in this contest. Coming in a close second, with 32% of the votes cast, is Cris Franz!
Cris was nominated by 365Barrington.com reader, Al Crook who says…
“Cris is an excellent fan-and as we watch most games together, she’s Barrington’s #1 Fan!. Since the puck dropped on this year’s strike-shortened season, she’s followed every game and gotten to know the team, the players and is now a super-fan. The photo is of she and I at her first game this year (Hawks defeated Sharks 4-1!). She’s away this week volunteering at a special-needs camp, which is the ONLY thing that would take her away from the Stanley Cup Championship. When she gets back I’d like to anoint her as the Biggest fan (along with a new 2013 Stanley Cup T-shirt).”
Congratulations to you both, Megan and Cris! And thank you for your nominations, Dawn and Al. I’ll be in touch this week to make arrangements to give you your prize. We’re happy you shared your photos, helping us celebrate the Blackhawks 2013 Stanley Cup championship!
Thank you to everyone who took part and, especially Heinen’s Fine Foods for taking part in the fun. And, stay tuned, we’ll be cooking up more crazy photo contests soon! In the meantime, here’s one last look at a slideshow of all of our nominees…
And, for one more trip down memory lane, I want to again share Catherine Goetze’s 365BarringtonTV report from Wool Street – one week ago today – on the night the Hawks took home the Stanley Cup.
